Born on the island of Cos, Hippocrates was born into a family of physicians, as his father and his grandfather were both physicians. Certainly, he has influenced many lives, and still does today. This is exhibited by the Hippocratic oath, which is still used today as an ethics code for physicians. Hippocrates was a pioneer in making medicine a scientific matter not a philosophical matter. He lived in Greece during the Golden Century where experimentation thrived and scientific facts were proven for the first time. Though he is very famous, very little is known about the details of Hippocrates's life.
